DOP: Drop Out Prevention; Miracle at Monty Middle School: a great new YA title detailing the lives of students and
teachers at a Florida middle school. Marvin, the first person narrator, thinks, acts, and speaks like most DOP kids:
he is down on himself and faces many academic and personal problems. He meets a great new teacher who believes in kids
and knows how to translate this belief into dynamic, relevant classroom lessons. Teenagers and their teachers will find
many reasons to laugh and cry in Miracle. Monroe is obviously a teachers’ teacher who knows how kids talk and how to
include many nuggets of good practice in this book which will appeal to a wide range of readers.
Want to know how it IS in many secondary schools today? Want the inside scoop on state testing in schools? Want to see how one person can make a difference in a child’s life?
Read Miracle at Monty Middle School.
